New Man on the Block !

The story that I am pitching a character for is Desperate Housewives. Desperate Housewives airs every Sunday night at 10pm. I think they should add a new bachelor on Wisteria Lane.

The character's name should be Mark Sheppard. He should be older and a lady's man, having all the women falling for his charm. He should be tall, dark and handsome. He could start by using his charm on the all the women on the street, until he found one that he wanted to be with. With only one problem, Gabrielle Solis is a married woman with two children. Gabrielle will have to decide whether to cheat on her husband or tell Mark to leave her alone.

The suitable person for this character is Patrick Dempsey, because he fits the physical description perfectly, and he would be able to portray this character perfectly!

The Road Not Taken.

Leslie just graduated from high school, it's the night of her high school graduation. She isn't going out like every other graduate in her school. Three months ago her life changed after giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Anna. To celebrate graduating she and her family go to a park that they had went to since Leslie was a child.

Leslie and her family gathered around a large picnic table, filled with food and cake. When Leslie pictured her graduation when she was a child, she didn't picture Anna. She didn't think Anna was a mistake or a burden, just something she wasn't prepared for at the age of 18. She thought she would have had a life started before she had a kid.

She had an important decision to make, she either had to stay home from university after all the scholarships she recieved to watch Anna or go to university for 4 years, leave Anna with her parents and miss her growing up. She had no idea what she wanted to do, she could either get a good job and be able to support her and Anna or she could work a minimum wage job and try to have a good life.

*****
Leslie went to university, although she missed Anna taking her first steps, learning to talk and her first day of school. She managed to get a high paying job and buy a house in a nice neighborhood, she moved Anna and her mother in with her. Leslie made a hard and huge decision by giving up Anna while she went to get her life on track, all the while she was in college she hoped she would have a life Anna would like to have. Leslie grew up to a poor family, she never had the opportunities most kids had, and she wanted Anna to grow up differently then her mother had. Although it was a tough decision, it was the right one.

How To Write A Newspaper Article

"How to write a newspaper article" is an article about how to make your own article sound professional. First off, you must decide what exactly your going to write about. Second, you must research your newspaper article topic and find out everything there is to know about it. When your writing your article, you could consider the following questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? When beginning your article, you must have an interesting and eye-catching first sentence. Then, include quotes from the people you previously interviewed. Remember to write in 3rd person, and use verbs so that the reader will know what's happening. In your last paragraph, end it with a quote or phrase that will linger in the readers mind. When you are all finished your article write "By," and include your name. Decide where it would be appropriate to place illustrations and pictures, proof-read your article and edit it when necessary. After you have completed everything, hit the spell check for good measures!

Free of label, but not stigma

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/02/11/oklahoma.teen.sex.offender/index.html

The sample of writing I have chosen is about a young man who when he was 16 had sexual contact with a then 13 year old. The young man, Rickey Blackman, was a registered sex offender for 4 years until a law took effect in Oklahoma in November removed his name from the registry. This writing is effective because it was very imformative. I liked that it showed how much it effected his life even after the label of sex offender came off his lisence and he was removed from the registry. After reading this article, I think it will help me with my own writing because it could be related to people our age, so you need to write about things that are related to people you're age and it needs a catchy title.

Writing Inventory

In my spare time, when there is nothing to do, I sit down and try to write little stories. Some of my favorite authors include Laura Ruby, Alyson Noël, Jenn Calonita and Erin Haft.I prefer books about daily life, things that could happen to real life people.

The easiest kind of writing for me is things that come out of my imagination. The kind of writing that challenges me is writing about my own life, because my life is not any different then other people, so it's hard to try not and bore them with my life. I get my idea's from movies or other book's, I take idea's from them and combine them.

When I am writing a good story, I usually have two or three drafts because everytime I re-read it, I find more mistakes and I find it neater to just rewrite instead of crossing things out. My strength as a writer would have to be the description of the character, I don't use to much detail but I use enough for the reader to understand the character. My weakness as a writer is developing the setting.

I don't really have any favorite subjects about which I enjoy writing. My goals as a writer would be learning to describe the setting more.

My Life in Ruins

Graduation …4 days away and like any other 18 year old I was hitting up every grad party imaginable. Even though the weather was not that good, I still went to the party. I arrived at the party feeling pretty good, I talked to my friends about graduation and college; we were all so excited to get out of our small town and start our lives.

At about 1am I got a text from a friend about another party, just fifteen minutes away. I knew the roads weren’t that great and I was drunk, but I remembered the lyrics from my favorite song by Charlie Major “it can’t happen to me, I got an angel watching over me,” so I headed to my car. Two of my friends jumped in with me and we were on our way with the stereo blasting. We went around a blind turn and I didn’t notice the approaching vehicle. I was on their side of the road and didn’t have time to get over to my side, before I knew it we had struck them head on.

When I awoke I was in the hospital, hooked to a bunch of cords and wires. I had no idea what had happened and why I was there. When my mother saw I was awake, she explained to me that I had been drunk driving. My irresponsibility had killed a mother and her 3 year old daughter and one of my closest friends. My other friend that had been in the crash with me had to undergo extensive surgery but was going to survive.

We had all missed our graduation and even worse, I was getting charged. When I got out of the hospital I went back to the place of the accident. The car was wrecked, stuck in the sloppy mud in a field. There was a memorial going on for the mother and her young daughter and I felt like I needed to be there, to tell the family how bad I felt. When I saw my car sitting in the sloppy mud I couldn’t take it any longer, I picked up a piece of shrapnel and pounded the car with all my might, onlookers watched, realizing how bad I felt. I wish I could take back what happened that night, but you can’t bring back those who you’ve lost.
