Influencing Change


During class, we have read certain novels that influence change in the world. Such as the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" which discusses racism and prejudice. As we following the narrator through her struggle with maturing and outlook on life.



I think that if people would take the time to read this novel, and the people who have read the novel actually looked deep into the message and heart of the novel then they would understand how bad racism really is. In the novel a black man named Tom Robinson is wrongly accused of rape and battery after a white man accuses him. The black man ends up found guilty for no other reason but he's black and the white man who really did it walks off without a problem.



This novel shows strong change in our world where people are equal, but in some places and some peoples minds, the problem of racism is still strong as ever. These people, for reasons of their own, need to read this novel, or realize that everyone really is equal in this world.



"To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of my favorite novels of all time, and reading it over and over still gives me the same shock and amazement as the first time I read it did. I really hope you will consider reading this book, and questioning the world.



The Trade Off



If I could trade places with any fictional character, I would chose Bella Swan. I would chose her because her life since moving to Fork's is full of adventure.



One reason for trading spots with Bella Swan, would be because she gets to be the girlfriend of the handsome Edward Cullen. He has the characteristic's any woman would love their boyfriends to have. He is mysterious because he is a vampire, so he doesn't let to many people know about him. He has a close-knit, accepting family this is shown because he accept Bella when she was just a fragile human.



The second reason for wanting to trade places with Bella Swan because she gets to befriend the gorgeous Jacob Black, formerly known as Taylor Launter. He is every woman's dream man, he has every trait I would want in a guy. He is not one of those arrogant hot guys that ignore a girl that wants him for his personality and not just his looks.



The final reason I would want to be Bella Swan is because she gets to turn into a vampire and live forever. Anyone would want the ability to live eternally, and never have to worry about death or anything that us humans have to worry about.



If I could chose to be any fictional character it would be Bella Swan, and now you know why !

The Christmas Story

There once was a beautiful china doll, resting on the top shelf of Henri's Toy Palace. The doll's name was Clara, she had beautiful auburn hair neatly curled with a dusty rose dress that ended with white lace around the bottom. Clara had black boots and white socks, she also had a little hat that matched her dress.

The doll never got much attention because every seemed to forget about her since she was so high up on the shelf. One wintry day Clara wanted to be noticed, so she shuffled herself to the front of the top shelf where she fell suddenly hoping to land on the bottom shelf. When she realized she was falling way to fast and far out that she wasn't going to make the shelf, she began to panic.

When Clara awoke she had landed far into the garbage bag and couldn't find her way out since it was SO dark. This worried her, she didn't know if anyone would ever find her and if they did, she didn't think any child would want to buy her! As Clara wept, she could hear the children coming in after school to check out the toys, she heard one little girl ask the store keeper "sir, where is that china doll that was on the top shelf?"

Clara tried to get someones attention but it didn't work, she thought for sure she was stuck for eternity in the trash bag, and she would be dumped into the trash compactor and soon forgot about. The store keeper searched and searched for the doll, when he was unable to locate her on the shelf, he checked to see if she had fell. When he didn't find her on the floor, he was about to lose hope when he saw his cat rummaging in the garbage. He thought to himself that she couldn't possibly be in the trash, but checked anyways. That's where he found her, wrapped in a banana peel!

After Clara was washed up, and re-dressed she was taken home with the most beautiful young girl, she had seen in her life. Clara now knew to wait for the right one not to try and find the right one for yourself, because you'll only end up in mischief.

*What is your mood today?

My mood at the beginning of the day was great, although I had to wake up for school, that was the only downside. I was in a great mood, because the snow had covered up the mucky mud, and it looked beautiful! When I arrived at school my mood wasn't so great because everyone was jumping down my throat whenever I asked them a question, then we have those annoying immature guys in our class that would make you want to go home and sleep for days ! So as you can tell my mood is alright, but not as great as it was this morning.



*It is Twilight time!

I am most defiantly a Twilight fan, not because they have vampires or because it's good reading, which it is, but because Robert Pattinson and Taylor Launter are COMPLETELY gorgeous. It shows the compelling story of how two completely different people fall in love and even though they have several complications trying to be together, they manage to stay together and not care about what other people think or say.



One change...

If I could change something I done this past week, it would be hurting my neck Saturday night.. Since hurting my neck I've been unable to play volleyball for a week. I don't know what actually happened to my neck but I managed to hurt it somehow, so if I could go back and change it, I would have stayed in Saturday night to avoid the injury.



Winter - love it or hate it?

The season winter, is a debatable season for me. At the start of Winter it is very beautiful with the sparkly snow and covered in amazing white, but then as spring nears, the snow starts to melt and the mud takes over, so the first of Winter is a season I love, but the end of Winter is so gross, because all the mud smells yuckkyy!



*The perfect mode of transportation

If I could have any car I would have a 1985 Chevy Truck. It would be two-tone brown and cream color. It would have a 305 4-barrel with dual exhaust and cherry bombs so it is really loud! The windows would tinted 20% all around, so I wouldn't be pulled over by the cops! That would be my dream vehicle !

Telling The Story

Dear Michael,

This morning after I climbed outta bed, I got ready for the day. My momma & poppa sent me on my way. I pulled my teddy bears on my little red wagon and say the song "little red wagon painted blue" 'cept my wagon wasn't painted blue, cause it's red. After I got bored with my little red wagon and teddy bears I went on my way. I founded my neighbor and he was mowing his lawn and i wanted to help so i picked'd up all the roccks in his lawn & threw them by my doggy housee :). After I was all fished helping him I went to my doggy housee & found him barrying all the rocks in the yard, making a ginormaist mess and he poopied on the lawn, so i picked it up and took it to the throw away can. When I got to the throw away can, there was 3 little animals with black awound their eyes, they were really pretty so I left them alone. Since I still had the doggy doo-doo in my hand I went to my dad's BIG work shed, and left the doo-doo in the bucket on the table. After leaving the work shed, I headed over to nanna's house cause she always makes the bestest cookies and has them waiting just for me. When i get to nanna's I find her out in sun room, sowing socks for winter. I asked'd my nanna for some cookies & milky, she got up as quick as she could and got me fwee cookies and a big glass of milk, but she didn't fill it to the top ecause she knew I would spill it on myself. I love my nanna. After I ate all my cookies and drank on my milk, I had a milk mustache, but I didn't mind, that just means I could have something to taste later. By the time I was ready to leave, it was getting REALLY REALLY dark outside, like the moon was already in the sky and momma always told me not to walk by myself in the dark, so I asked my old nanna to take me home. When I gotted home, I wanted to right you this letter, to tell you of my dayy :) !

Bonus Activity's

Every morning I wake up to a boring blue walled bedroom, complete with a bed, wardrobe and dresser. Some days I picture my room as this cool, colorful hide-away, well this is going to give me the opportunity to design my very own master bedroom.

If I could design my own bedroom, I would start by having it two stories leading to the attic, with a winding staircase connecting the two. In the bottom/main part of the bedroom I would have 3 of 4 walls painted a baby green color then the remaining wall painted a baby pink. All of my room accessories would be black along with my canopy bed. In one corner of the room would be the black winding staircase leading to the attic portion of my room, in the other corner there would be a hanging bubble chair matching the color's of my room. The floor would be done in white hardwood flooring.

When you climb up the staircase you are in a small attic room. Each wall is painted a beautiful sky blue to brighten up the room along with pink and green polka dots to match the main bedroom. I would have a game corner with every kind of game for the Wii possible, there would be a huge wrap-around couch with green, pink and blue polka dotted upholstery. The flooring would be done in white carpet.

This would be my dream bedroom, it's very unlikely to happen, but if it did, this is how I would design it !

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs. There was Curly. He was the oldest.There was Wurly. He was the smartest. And then they’re was Flo. She was the favorite pig.Their mother loved Flo the best. Curly, Wurly and Flo lived with their mother in a high-riseapartment building in New York City. Their apartment was on the 75th floor.The pigs didn’t mind this because there was an elevator that opened right in front of their apartment door. It was on the days that their elevator wasn’t working, that the pigs suffered.Their little hoofs would be aching by the time they reached their apartment.Their mother would have to have little hoof baths waiting for her three little pigs when they finally reached the top. Of course, Flo always got the warmest hoof bath because she was their mother’s favorite. One day, Mama Pig sent the three pigs to the store to buy apples for their dinner. She gave them a list of items that she needed.She also gave them their allowance, and she told them that they could buy their favorite candy which they would eat for their dessert. The three pigs put on their jackets (it was winter).They put on their gloves and scarves. Next, it was time to put on their boots.Curly slipped on his bright red leather boots over his red and yellow polka dot socks.Wurly, being the most intelligent, slipped on his waterproof, fully lined boots over his white socks.Curly and Wurly were ready and waiting for there sister. She could not find her boots."Curly and Wurly," she said, "have you seen my boots?"Curly and Wurly looked at each other and then they looked at their sister."I’ll tell you where they are," said Wurly, "if you’ll give us your allowance to hold while you go and get them.""Okay," agreed Flo as she handed the boys her allowance."There are your boots, over there," said Curly. "Where?" asked Flo suspiciously."Over there!" squealed the boys as they pointed to the window in there living room."They're over there behind that curtain." Flo slowly walked toward the window.The boys followed closely behind there sister. Just as she reached the window, Curly opened the window and Wurly pushed Flo through. Curly and Wurly squealed with delight as they’re sister fell 75 floors. Curly and Wurly were thrilled that their plan worked. They were rid of Flo and they had her money! Luckily for Flo, she landed on a huge snow pile and was not hurt. Her brothers were not so fortunate. Mama Pig heard the commotion, ran into the living room and, when she realized what they had done, sent the boys to live with their Uncle Oscar Mayer.Uncle Oscar always knew what to do with bad little pigs. The boys protested. They were just doing Flo a favor by helping her find her boots; it wasn’t their fault that she was clumsy.But Mama would not listen to their excuses and off they went to Uncle Oscar’s. Flo and Mama Pig still live on the 75th floor of the apartment building in New York City, and they're very happy their. Now Flo gets her brothers’ allowance since they're not there.

Time Capsule

If I had to choose five items to put into a community time capsule and be opened in 2110, I would choose:

1)A photo album of our community, showing the people from the future how much it would have changed from the year 2010 to 2110. It would show the people from the year 2110 how we lived and what our community looked like 100 years ago. There would be picture's of every main/important building in the community, and the location so they can go back and see where everything would have been and what the building's looked like then.

2)Money. It would show how we bought things in the past, and how different it would have been for them to live 100 years ago. It would show them the different kinds of bills and coins we had.

3)A can of pepsi. Pepsi is the most popular drink among people today, so it would show the people of the future what our pop was like, and what we drank out of. Maybe they won't even have pop and it will give them an experience we people love today.

4)A cellular phone would show the people of the future how we communicate with friends. I would leave instructions on how it worked and how you text people, and leave them a text message telling them a little about myself and the phone.

5)Ipod Touch. The final item I would place in the time capsule would be an ipod touch. It would show the people of 2110 how we listened to music. Also it would show them what kind of music we listened to and who was the most popular singer of our time.


Dear people of 2110,

My name is Debora, I am a 16 year old female. I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I grew up with a family of 4 in this very community. As I am sure you aware the town has probably changed so much, I have included a photo album so you can see what it was like when I lived.

There have been many live changing experiences that I have witnessed in my lifetime. One for example would be the arrest of O. J. Simpson for killings of wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and friend, Ronald Goldman on June 18th 1994. Also the 9/11 twin tower plane crash, which was on September 11, 2001, one plane crashed into the Twin Tower's in New York, killing thousand's of people. On October 7th 2001 the war against Terrorism started. Also we have had many hurricane's happen in the world, one of the most disappointing, suffer able and memorable ones was Hurricane Katrina, the hurricane hit New Orleans on August 29th 2005, and five years later,today, people are still suffering from this. A recent earthquake hit Haiti on January 12th 2010, it had a catastrophic magnitude of 7.0 Mw. A total of 217,000 and 230,000 people were pronounced dead because of this incident.

Many people believed the world was going to end on December 21th 2012, but if you are reading this it was just a myth. I hope all is well in the future and the world is a better place then it is now. Take care people of 2110.
