Finding Forrester , staring Sean Connery and Rob Brown is a movie about following your dreams, never giving up on yourself or others. The movie was directed by Gus Van Sant and produced by Columbia Pictures in December 2000. It manages to be both entertaining and share a beautiful story about a young black male who hides his gift.
Finding Forrester really helps illuminates how Jamal Wallace(Rob Brown), the 16 year old black male, doesn't want his friends to know about his gift. In the film Jamal and his group of friends were always concerned about a person would you peek out the window at them. Jamal was dared to sneak in, which leads to him letting people find out about his gift, when the person who peeks out at him, has a compelling background history with the art of literature. Jamal gets an astounding mark on his test scores which his teachers can not believe and he is asked to go to a private school, where he can continue to play basketball. Towards the end of the movie, Jamal is believed to have plagiarized a story he handed in and it jeopardizes his chances in staying at the Prep School.
Gus Van Sant has directed many other movies, one in which is similar to Finding Forrester is Good Will Hunting. The main character in Good Will Hunting is a janitor and has a genius-level intellect, eidetic memory and a profound gift for mathemetics. The story line is similar to that of Finding Forrester, so it shows the Gus Van Sant prefers stories about characters who have profound gifts but hide them because of reasons unknown.
The acting in this movie is very well done! Sean Connery is an amazing actor, he manages to capture the heart and mind of everyone. His character, William Forrester, has so much to teach young writer Jamal Wallace although he never really teaches him to write, but instead he teaches him how he can get his passion for writing onto the page.
The movie message becomes clearer as we reach the end of the film. The definition of family is not being blood related but rather a group of people who are generally not blood relations but who share common attitudes, interests, or goals. This is true for the relationship of Jamal Wallace and William Forrester because the more they get to know each other, but the closer they become, and each lost family members and can relate to eachother. They learn that you must protect who and what you care about, no matter what! "In an ordinary place, he found the one person to make his life extraordinary. "

Do you hate the word "y'all" too?
The word "y'all" is the MOST annoying saying in the history of all slang words ! I can't stand when people say it, like seriously stop saying it, you're not from Texas people! Miley Cyrus is the worst for saying it, although she is from Nashville, Tennesse she doesn't live there anymore, she wants to be a big star, so stop saying "y'all". The word "y'all" makes no sense, it takes just as much time to say you all as it does "y'all" and you don't get the funny looks from the people. There is absoulultey no need of saying the word "y'all" people, just make it easier and say you all!
I do what I want!
My parent's can't tell me to do anything, I do what I want, when I want. If I'm supposed to be home at a certain time, I'm always late, if I'm not supposed to be out with a certain person, I go with that person. When they tell me not to do something I do it anyways. When they want me do something, I always tell them "I'll do it later when you leave", it never gets done. I do what I want, when I want, go where I want, even though they are just looking out for me, I'm an Underhill, I fight even if i'm wrong.
It's ok to be afraid
People always ask if I'm afraid of something, well YES I AM AFRAID! Some people say they fear nothing, but if they were faced with death, they would definatly fear it, if they were face-to-face with the devil they would fear him. They don't think about the less simple things that they could fear, when they think of having no fear, they think they have no fear of the less complex stuff in life, that not many people think about. If they were to be sitting on the side of a boat when the water is almost to freezing temperature and say they are not scared, it's believable, but if they were to face the devil and say they were not afraid or face death and say they did not fear it, they would be lying. Everyone has a fear of something, whether it's a simple fear or a complex fear.
Second Chances
Some people give out second chances like a predator gives a child candy, way to often. There are couples that break up everyday and are back together within an hour after they broke up. It's ridiculous, sometimes people need to just think maybe the second chance is going to turn out the same way as before, maybe they are just wasting their time in trying again. Second chances come to easy to most people, most of these people take them for granted and think well if they gave me a second chance there will always be another, but maybe goodbye is a second chance*
