Persuasive Essay Format

The title of the persuasive essay I choose is "Sexting: Know the Facts", I found it on the website Teen Ink, the author of the is Katie B. from Auburn, New York. The main point is found in the opening paragraph, it explains what sexting is and the statistics of the teens who "sext". Yes the opening paragraph caught my attention because it shows that many teens participate in sexting, and it relates to people my age. There are six paragraphs in the article "Sexting: Know the Facts", yes each paragraph relates to the thesis. Yes Katie B. uses other examples to back up her argument, she researched people who had their lives ruined because of sexting. She doesn't present the other side of the argument. The author convinced me of her argument because sexting is not right and can ruin a person's life. I believe the author mentioned enough information in her article, no i can't think of a counter argument she could have mentioned, because she had all the right information. The conclusion to the essay is effective, because it shows that once you hit send you can't erase what you did. There was no grammar mistakes in the article. I thought the article was good because it was effectively written. I liked the article because this is a serious topic that many teens are participating in and they don't realize that there are consequences.

The Life of a Mosquito.

Being a Mosquito isn't as boring as it seems, although it's not that exciting either, it really depends how you look at it! A mosquito is a common insect in the family Culicidae. Mosquitoes have four stages in their life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult or imago. Female mosquitoes lay their eggs in water, such as a salt-march, lake, puddle, or an artificial water container. The first three stages in a mosquito’s life happen in the water and last five to fourteen days, the eggs hatch to become larvae then pupae. The adult mosquito emerges from the pupa as it floats at the water surface. Adults live for 4-8 weeks. There are approximately 3,500 species of mosquitoes found throughout the world. In most species, only the females feed on humans and are therefore vectors for a number of infectious diseases affecting millions of people. So after all this information that I just filled your head with, you can decide yourself whether you think a mosquito is useful or useless, personally I think being a mosquito would be super boring, and they are very useless, they serve no purpose to anyone.

How To Be A Perfect Liar

Everyone who is anyone has told a lie, whether is was just a simple "No, I didn't steal the cookies from the cookie jar", or the more serious lie "No, I didn't steal $1,000 from that store!".. Everyone has done it, some are just little white lies, while others have escalated into the worst mistake of someones life. Have you ever had been caught in a lie? Have you ever been in a situation when you absolutely could not tell the honest truth? Are you a terrible liar? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this right here is the article for you!
Following are seven steps on how to become a perfect liar !

Step 1- RELAX; The more nervous you are, the more guilty you seem. When people are nervous they seem as though they are lying, even they are telling the truth. You need to speak confidently. Lying is more not what you say, but how you say it.

Step 2- GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT; People are more likely to believe what they want to hear, so tell them what you think they would like or expect to hear. If the news they expect to hear is good, show enthusiasm for them, if the news is sad, remember to sympathize.

Step 3- PLAY IT CLOSE; When lying, keep close to the facts, this makes it easier to keep your story straight, provide alibis and details.

Step 4- GO BIG OR GO HOME; If you cannot play it close, go big! Does your story have any impossible truths? Tell these unbelievable facts to your audience & prove they are true! After the audience hears these truths, anything else will become easier to swallow.

Step 5- EYE CONTACT; Look your audience in the eye, liars tend to either avoid eye contact or overcompensate and give themselves away. Look at your audience the appropriate amount of time. When speaking, people typically look make eye contact with the audience 50-70% of the time. Keep these numbers in mind!

Step 6- DENIAL; If you're suspected of lying, DENY! Place the burden of truth upon the accuser, make them prove that you are lying. Surprisingly, this is harder to do than you think! If you are proved to have been lying, pretend to suffer from memory loss, using the phrase "I cannot recall" or "It happened a while ago, so the facts could be mixed up!". Insist the lie was a slip of memory and that it is besides the point.

Step 7- INSIST ON INNOCENCE; If the audience attempts to change subject, insist of your innocence! Refuse to change the subject until your audience believes 100% in your innocence. Become visibly upset and act offended if your innocence is questioned.

So now that you have all the steps you will need to know, you can now be an expert liar ! Try out these tips, but remember to start small, because practice makes perfect!
