Reflection on Writing 10

During my grade ten year I had a writing course, which was the result of this blog. First off, I'm not really a star writer, but I try my best! During the course we had to write story after story, and work on the website the Blackville Talon where our writing skills came in handy.

In my opinion writing as persuasive essay was the hardest writing project I've done through the duration of the course. I'm not really strong at this because you need to have a topic in which you stand behind and can be serious about, but I'm not a serious writer I like to goof around and write whatever comes to mind. The easiest type of writing I done in this course was having to write about the picture I choose, I found this was the easiest because I had the vivid picture already in my mind and all I needed was a story to follow up.

In the duration of this course we wrote many stories, the one I am most proud of is my story "Life In Ruins". I'm proud of this story because it relates to people around my age, although it's a sad story, it could happen to anyone. Also because I picked a picture I wanted to write about, and wrote around that picture. A piece of writing I would like to do over is "The Road Not Taken", I would like to do this over because I feel it's not as well done as it could have been, and it doesn't include some parts that would have been important to the story so the reader could better understand the piece of writing.

In writing, we had to assess other students' work, this helped me a lot with writing my own stories because I seen where I could improve. It also helped when revising mine because I knew what other people had made mistakes on so I knew not to make the same mistakes. I enjoyed assessing other students' work because I got to see who they are as a person through their writing. In my original writing inventory I stated that writing about my own life was the hardest for me, I did improve a bit from writing the letter to the people of the future.

The three most enjoyable writing activities I did in this course was New Man on the Block! because it was fun to make up a character for a show I liked and I got to feel in control. The second was Time Capsule because I got to find out about things that happened around the world and leave it in a letter. The third was "Have You Met Mary Jane?", because I had fun with it and I like to voice my opinion. Three least enjoyable writing activities I did in this course was How to Write a Newspaper Article because I'm not very good at the how to stories and I thought it was kinda obvious. The Second was Telling the Story because I'm not really good at having to tell a bunch of stories within a story and them flowing together perfectly. The third was The Life of a Mosquito because I don't know how a mosquito passes it's time and lives.

Overall I liked this course, it gave me a chance to learn to write better and also how to properly use a video camera and shoot footage then edit it. It was a very useful course because it taught my a lot of stuff I didn't know.
